Artist’s Statement |
My art has consistently been influenced by my love of the wilderness and what it means to be a landscape artist today. Throughout my exploration I am challenging and changing my thinking about the representation of nature in relation to my own ideas about nature. I continue to make drawings and paintings, and enjoy incorporating birchbark in my artmaking. However, I have recently been engaged in the creation of my own artifacts, and find this progression from representational to conceptual thinking to be most exciting. I am drawn to the idea of the natural and the manufactured, and will continue this exploration in my practice.
